In the late 18th century, the Royal Navy started issuing enamel mugs like these to their jack tars (sailors) from which they drank their daily ration of PUSSER'S RUM and Grog. Each mug has been hand decorated and the design permanently fired with colored glass inks into the white enamel surface of the mug.
